What is an e-Aadhaar?

An e-Aadhaar is therefore a digital replica of the plastic Aadhaar card that is issued to the people. It is a secured PDF document that contains similar information as contained in the physical card and it is in the form of the holder’s name, date of birth, gender, and the holder’s photograph.

Steps to Download e-Aadhaar

Step 1: Visit UIDAI Website

Open your web browser and go to the official UIDAI website: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/genricDownloadAadhaar

Step 2: Fill the details

You have two options to proceed:

Aadhaar number: You will be required to provide your Aadhaar number: a 12-digit unique identification number and the security code on the screen.

Enrolment ID: If you have not memorized your Aadhaar number in case you lost your Aadhaar number then don’t worry you can use the 28-digit enrolment ID given at the time of Aadhaar enrolment along with the security code.

Step 3: Verify Identity

Choose your preferred verification method:

OTP: You will receive an OTP to the number that you entered while registering the number. To continue, enter the OTP (One Time Password).

Biometric Authentication: Biometric information such as fingerprints or iris can be used for authentication if availed for use.

Step 4: Download e-Aadhaar

After that, you will be authenticated to download the e-Aadhaar PDF file. Download the file and store it on your computer to use it in the future.

Note: The eAadhaar has a password and can be identified by the last eight digits of the enrolment ID. The password is the first four letters of your local name in capital notation.

Print e-Aadhaar

  • Locate the downloaded e-Aadhaar PDF file on your computer.
  • Double-click the file to open it using your default PDF reader.
  • You will be prompted to enter a password. The password is the first four letters of your name in capital letters followed by your year of birth (e.g., RAMAN1985)
  • Once the e-Aadhaar PDF is open, click on the “Print” option.
  • Review the print preview to ensure the e-Aadhaar card will print correctly.
